Model Life | Portfolio Shoot

This weekend I did something amazing. I shot my portfolio for Wilhelmina Denver. This has to be the best experience I could have possibly asked for to start out my career. The day started at 8 am (a generous call time, from what I hear) and ended at around 6:30 pm.

I don't know if it was the sugar in the NAKED juice or the adrenaline but I was so pumped throughout the entire process. I worked with two wonderful photographers who made the process smooth and easy and I learned a ton about lighting and movement. Below are a few shots...

Being able to look at each individual shot and see the little tweaks and to see what works and what doesn't is a great way to learn... and to learn fast! I cannot wait for what's to come and to start working! x 

Model Life | Image Consultation

Yesterday was a big day for me. It was one of the first steps in my modeling career, my Image Consultation! YAY!

To be honest I was a little nervous going into this. I realized that it wasn't going to be a one-on-one meeting and that there were going to be other models there as well. Truth be told, it was a wonderful thing to see other girls in the same boat. 

 I saw girls who reminded me of myself five years ago. When I was fourteen I was the doe eyed girl who had no idea what to expect or what to do. I saw myself in a few of the girls there and my maternal instinct kicked in a bit. I wanted to give them advice and walk them through the first few steps. 

I got to meet one of the photographers I will be working with on Saturday and lets just say I made an impression. My stern hand shake startled him a bit and was an ice breaker. Thank you Southern upbringing! We chatted about where I'm from and then discussed the shoot and I got some great prepping advice. 

Here is the zinger of the day: I AM COLORING MY HAIR! I have never highlighted or dyed my hair before so this is both exciting and nerve racking. I am going a bit more blonde before the portfolio shoot and since it is Saturday that means it has to be perfect the first time. PRESSURE. But I am very excited to get the ball rolling. I'll be taking as many pictures as possible during the shoot so that I can post them here. I am so incredibly excited for what's to come. 

A Little Inspiration | My Man

I am probably the luckiest girl ever. Not only do I have a wonderful, fun, and supportive family but I also have a very special man in my life, Golan (more commonly known as beezus, E.B. White, or Bice). I cannot even begin to do him justice writing about him but I will give it my best shot. Any time I am going through a difficult time or am just having a plain ol' shitty day, he is there to make me smile. I feel like I am getting the ab workout of a lifetime when I'm around him because of the constant laughter. He never takes life too seriously which is great in a time of my life where it seems like every little thing has monumental repercussions. He is selfless, kind, thoughtful, and always finding the funny. He is my rock. I wouldn't be where I am today without his love, support, and advice. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past year and some odd months and I am looking forward to more. Here's to being happy right where you are! x

Something New | Kate Moss Lipstick

Recently all of my time has been consumed by watching YouTube videos. I was introduced to a group of British YouTube-ers and I must admit - I'm a bit obsessed. My favorite of the group is one miss Zoella. Not only have I been watching all of her YouTube videos but I have also been following her blog. Basically, along with many other things, she has inspired me to take more risks with my makeup routine. Most of all my choice in lip products. She is usually wearing a bright and cheery color on her lips and it looks great! Not ever too much, always effortless. Therefore, I went and bought a bright lipstick of my own. I ended up getting a lipstick from the Kate Moss range for Rimmel in #12. Now being as I usually just wear some sort of lip balm or natural color gloss, this was very new for me. But I pushed past the insecurity and wore it to work anyways. I have never received so many compliments on my makeup. I felt confident and chipper all day and it was as if I was embodying the lipstick. It was great. Needless to say I am going back and getting more shades! Thanks, Zoella! x

The beginning

Hello there!

I am the kind of person who is always in her own little world, dreaming and wandering. My family always said that I was in Meagan land more than the real world growing up. So in order to sort of make a record of these daily wanderings, I'm starting this blog. I am hoping that this will serve as a creative outlet for myself and show what makes me happy. I also want this to eventually be a place where my friends and family can go to catch up on what I am up to. I will post random photos, projects (DIY and other sorts), things that I've found inspiration in, and other general tidbits. If anyone happens to stumble across this, then great! But if not then it will still serve its purpose for me. Enjoy!
